Tracey Berger has broad experience in trade mark matters including managing
large trade mark portfolios for clients with interests in a wide range of foreign
markets. Tracey’s practice focuses on brand clearance, registration, protection and
maintenance. Tracey also specialises in domain name management and advising
clients on using IP to secure a commercial advantage.
Tracey obtained a Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Law degree with Honours from
the Australian National University in 1994 and is admitted as a Solicitor of the
Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia as well as being
a notary public. She was appointed a principal of the firm in 2002.
In 2009, Tracey co-authored the 4th edition of Shanahan’s Laws of Trade Marks and
Passing Off , the leading text on trade mark law in Australia and has authored many
of International Trade Mark Association (INTA)’s publications including their guides
on Opposition and Cancellation procedures in Australia, Papua New Guinea, and
Tonga, as well as contributing to the Australian chapter of the latest edition of INTA’s
publication on Famous and Well-Known Marks.
Tracey has also served on a number of INTA committees and presently is a member of the Asia Pacific/Canada Trade Marks Office Relations Committee and is Project Leader for the Roundtables Committee for Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and India.
