Sylvie Tso is a solicitor in the commercialisation team of Spruson & Ferguson LAWYERS and specialises in intellectual property management and commercialisation.
Sylvie’s expertise extends to both Australian and US patent law. Prior to joining Spruson & Ferguson LAWYERS, Sylvie was the in-house counsel of a listed Australian biotechnology company where she was responsible for setting up an intellectual property management framework to manage an extensive patent and trade mark portfolio. Sylvie worked for a number of US biotechnology companies, overseeing their intellectual property portfolio, including patent portfolio in stem cell therapy, cell signalling and organ transplantation. Sylvie was also the intellectual property consultant for the Corporate Sponsored Research and Licensing Office of Massachusetts General Hospital, US.
Sylvie was one of the principal authors of the IP Manual for Australian Government Agencies as well as a recently published IP management manual directed to the electronics industry. Both manuals provide guidance and advice on effective intellectual property management. Sylvie has delivered numerous presentations and workshops on this topic.
Sylvie reads and writes Chinese and speaks Cantonese fluently and is conversant in Mandarin.
Sylvie is a member of the Licensing Executives Society and the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand.
