Simon Tout joined the Biotechnology practice of Spruson & Ferguson after working in Australia as an IP professional for seven years. Simon is experienced in protecting intellectual property rights across a wide range of biotechnology disciplines, and in particular patenting inventions in molecular and cellular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, plant biology and the neurosciences. Simon is also experienced in Plant Breeder’s Rights.

Simon was awarded a Master of Science and a PhD in the field of neuroscience from Sydney University. He has postdoctoral research experience in neuroimmunology and cell biology with a Sydney hospital, and in implantable ophthalmic devices and contact lenses with an Australian Cooperative Research Centre.
