Shahnaz Irani is a registered patent attorney and solicitor, with a decade of experience in pharmaceutical and biochemical patents.
Shahnaz has particular expertise in securing extensions of term on pharmaceutical patents and has a strong success rate presenting arguments before the Patent Office. Shahnaz works closely with the firm’s associated
legal practice in respect of opposition and revocation proceedings in Court and enjoys her advocacy work in ex parte and inter partes patent matters.
A principal of the firm since 2000, Shahnaz is a founding contributing author of the patent law chapter in Halsbury’s Laws of Australia and is a co-author of the Biotechnology IP Management Manual, commissioned by the Australian government in 2001.
Shahnaz holds a Bachelor of Science degree with First Class Honours in Biochemistry and a Bachelor of Laws degree with Honours, both from the University of Sydney.
