Khajaque Kortian has over 12 years of experience in intellectual property law, specialising in litigation and licensing and related areas of trade practices law. He represents a wide range of local and international clients including major local and international corporations. Khajaque has represented clients in Federal Court and High Court of Australia proceedings including appeals from trade mark oppositions, trade mark, design and patent infringement and revocation actions; action for breaches of the Trade Practices Act; and copyright matters. He was appointed a Principal of Spruson & Ferguson LAWYERS in 2000 and is also a principal of Spruson & Ferguson Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys.

Khajaque acts for a number of major international and local corporations in managing their trade mark portfolio. He works closely with clients in developing and implementing brand protection and anti-counterfeiting strategies for clients and regularly works closely with the Australian Customs Service on the seizure of counterfeit goods.

Khajaque has a particular interest in issues relating to IP and the internet/digital technology, and has a notable success rate in domain name dispute resolution. He contributes articles to and is on the editorial board of the Internet Law Bulletin and is a member of both the New South Wales Society for Computers and the Law and The Australian Domain Name Administrator (auDA).

Khajaque is a member of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia and a member of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand. He is also on the International Trade Marks Association (INTA) Anti-Counterfeiting & Enforcement Committee (East Asia & Pacific Subcommittee) and has presented many papers on IP law and practice at various legal conferences and seminars.
