Elizabeth completed a Bachelors degree in Advanced Science specialising in organic chemistry at the University of Sydney in 2000, graduating with First Class Honours and a University Medal. She was awarded a PhD for her research in the area of synthetic supramolecular chemistry at the Research School of Chemistry at the Australian National University in 2004.

After completing her PhD, Elizabeth was the recipient of a Skaggs Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California, USA. Her postdoctoral research focused on the synthesis of functionalised capsules and an investigation into their dynamic self-assembly.

Elizabeth has published a number of peer-reviewed research articles in international journals and has presented at numerous scientific conferences and meetings. She is currently studying to meet the necessary requirements for registration as a patent attorney.
