David Myers has broad experience in plant and microbial biochemistry and physiology. He is currently active in drafting and prosecuting biotechnology and pharmaceutical/veterinary patent applications and in patent opposition matters, but also practises in the field of plant breeders’ rights.
David holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree, majoring in agricultural chemistry, and was awarded a PhD for his work on enzymes of carbohydrate metabolism in germinated seeds in 1994. Before joining the chemical group of SPRUSON & FERGUSON in 1998, David was
a research scientist for more than five years with the Yeast Physiology research group at Burns Philp R&D, a major international baker’s yeast producer.
He is the author of a number of research articles in international journals and has delivered several presentations on patentability issues. David is a member of the Australian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and of the Cereal Chemistry Division of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute.
