Andrew Blattman specialises in the firm’s biotechnology practice, working with several of Australia’s major universities and research institutes. He has particular expertise in identifying, protecting and advancing IP rights in the fields of genetics and molecular biology.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture with First Class Honours and completed a PhD in the molecular genetics of host resistance to infectious agents while working within the CSIRO Division of Animal Health. Andrew also undertook a post-doctoral fellowship with the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the isolation of quantitative trait loci and marker-assisted selection.
Andrew is a co-author of the Biotechnology IP Management Manual commissioned by the Australian government agency, Biotechnology Australia, and the author of a number of research articles in international journals, scientific conference papers, monographs and book chapters.
Andrew’s expertise has been recognised in various publications including the PLC Cross-border Life Sciences Handbooks where he has been recommended for his strong reputation in advancing patents for universities and research institutes. Andrew has also been recently nominated by Emerald's Who's Who, Presidentials Who's Who, Strathmore's Who's Who and the Global Directory of Who's Who publications for his continuing success in the life sciences field.
