Our Electrical/ICT practice group prides itself on attracting the finest engineering professionals with solid practical experience. In this way, we ensure we have the technical skills and the commercial context to provide the most useful intellectual property advice to our clients.
Spruson & Ferguson’s Electrical/ICT team is comprised of patent attorneys with technical expertise and experience across a range of technologies, including information technology, telecommunications, electrical engineering software, multimedia, photonics and business methods. Through our work with large multinational companies with extensive foreign filing programs, our Electrical/ICT team has gained considerable experience in securing patent protection for clients in major foreign markets such as the United States, Europe and Asia.
The Electrical/ICT team brings a unique perspective to our client relationships through significant depth of industry experience. The majority of the Electrical/ICT patent attorneys team worked for some years as professional engineers before moving to patent law. This industry experience enables us to communicate effectively with our clients and build long term relationships, as we understand the day to day operations of Electrical/ICT companies and the need to maximise the value of IP and achieve commercially acceptable returns on R&D investment.
The Electrical/ICT team, together with the firm’s Commercialisation team and the Australian Electrical and Electronic Manufacturer’s Association (AEEMA), led a consortium in developing a manual providing guidance on the effective management of intellectual property. The manual, Intellectual Property Management: A Practical Guide for Electrical and Electronics Related Industries was developed as an initiative of the Electronics Industry Action Agenda,
and provides knowledge and guidance
on IP issues for a range of audiences within Australian enterprises, both large and small.
